My experience doing the videoshoot for GKonomics was truly unforgettable!

Here, I was able to understand how patience, understanding and hard work can make one person achieve her goal. Last week, I was able to see the real women who created those chic bags and purses made of plastic bags, vhs tapes and rugs. They have a showroom at Gawad Kalinga Pinagsama, Taguig.

I'm not being cheesy or mushy but I honestly felt the struggles and hardship these women were going through in exchange of a better life. I salute all of you! Two thumbs up!

I was also given the opportunity to have a small talk with GKonomics Finance Editor, Ms Pinky Velez Poe. While doing her makeup for the videoshoot, she gladly share her humble experience with Gawad Kalinga. She told me her vison and hopes for the success of helping the less fortunate women. I so like her, she's so bubbly!

Makeup Review: Palladio liquid eyeliner

I was at Beauty Bar, Robinson's Galleria, searching for a not so expensive liquid eyeliner. I came across some different brands from Smashbox to Bloom then I tried some gorgeous colors of Palladio. I swatched some of their liners which cost Php375.00 each, not bad! So I thought why not give it a try.

They have black, brown, lavender, bronze, golden bronze and some other colors but I chose the one in black forest (I really don't know why I didn't choose the black one or the golden bronze because these colors are all so amazing, maybe next time I'll sure buy it) and here's the swatch for this:

The liquid eyeliner is pigmented. Its not so black, more on a very dark green and black effect. One stroke is all that I need to add some simple dramatic eye definition. It is also smear-proof and the product really last me overnight. What I really love about this is its easy-to-grip wand (For me, its easy because I've been using liquid eyeliners eversince I was in college). The felt-tip applicator is so firm that it makes drawing thin or thick lines a cinch.

This liquid eyeliner is not meant for my water line because it will smudge and will definitely sting a bit. I have sensitive skin so a little harsh chemical on it will really irritate my eyes. I am not recommending this one if you have just started using an eyeliner, pencil liner works best for beginners. Also, if you don't have a steady hand, stick to the pencils, otherwise you will just be wasting your money and not getting the result that you like.

Makeup Review: Prestige Browliner

I got the Prestige Browliner in Taupe at Beauty Bar, Eastwood. I was in a hurry that time so I grab a brand that I've known and been using. It was my first to try the browliner from Prestige, I have been using their liquid liner for years now and I love it.

I swatched it from the store and immediately love the shade taupe. To my dismay, when I opened my new browliner and applied to my client its seems like its all dried up and not really doing any help on me. Its a very hard pencil.

It was priced for P275.00 and felt like its not worth it. Its even building up some products on my brow which is for me is very hard to use.

Skincare Review: Messy Bessy Insect Repellant

I don't know with you girls but to me, mosquitoes my NEMESIS!

Have you been in a situation where every one is just doing well and fine to where they were standing or seated and I was like swatting myself in the legs, in my arms and worst, slapping my face.

Mosquitoes are so addicted to me! Why? I have no IDEA!!!

I was using the Off lotion that's always available in my favorite drugstore and supermarket and its doing okay with me. But the thing is, sometimes I can't deny I'm wearing it because let's all admit the smell... so hard on the nose!

If only these pesky mozzies aren't fond of me, honestly I won't mind but... its like I'm the cake in the party! They are soooo into me!

So I searched for one mosquito repellant that's not that smelly. Then I came across Messy Bessy Insect Repellant!

See, its not just for mosquitoes, its for all kinds of crawling insects! :) What I really love about it is its made of natural ingredients and the smell, it eventually fades away after spraying it for a couple of minutes! For now, this stays in my bag! :D

Skincare Review: Burt's Bees Baby Bee Buttermilk Soap

My youngest kiddo got sensitive skin so I took the time to find the best soap that can lessen his skin's reaction in cold weather. I am a big fan of Burt's Bees products because its natural, its organic but a bit pricey though, but its for my baby so for me, the price is just okay :)

I tried their Baby Bee buttermilk soap. So far this soap is doing well with the sensitive/dry skin of my little one. I even loved its sweet and delicate smell, giving me more reason to kiss and hug my baby during playtime! :)

For now, I'm contented and satisfied with this soap. I might try the lotion next time.

Makeup Review: The Face Shop Freshian Volumizing Mascara

I do love makeups but I prefer those that are not too pricey but still works. This mascara don't smudge, lengthens and volumize my lashes. The Face Shop's Freshian Volumizing Mascara is one of my fave, look closely on its brush:

So impress with this! I have the 01 Curling that costs Php 275.00! This mascara easily glides on my lashes up to the tips and for a more dramatic effect I just add layers to my lashes.

The entire packaging is descent and handy. I highly recommended this one.

Watson's Holiday Glam: Exploring Etude House

Last Tuesday I went to SM Megamall's Holiday Glam event. Thank goodness I was able to see what's in there because they got freebies, games, and discounts for cosmetic purchases.

Some participating brands were Majolica Majorca, famous for their lovely mascaras, Covergirl, Maybelline, Beauty Treats, Elf, Revlon, Etude House, etc.

The sales agent were very bubbly, specially the one at Etude House. She offered me to try the Nymph Aura volumer. She mixed it with a BB cream and applied it on my face.

Honestly, I so loved the effect of the product. When I looked at the mirror, my face shines like its glowing (not oily-looking) and its not sticky. I believe its priced for Php 700++, I didn't get it because what I really want to have that time was their concealer but I'll sure save for it!

I got the shade 1 and 2 Surprise essence concealer, each for Php298.00.

My purchase gave me the chance to spin on their roulette for freebies and this was what I won...

If there's one makeup book a novice or pro should buy, I highly recommend the Bobbie Brown Makeup Manual.

Here what you'll see and learn from this book:
- chapters that discuss every part of the face... from skin, eyes, cheeks, brows and lips
- a simple step by step techniques one can follow to achieve a certain look
- tips are also shared if you want to make makeup artistry as a profession
- my favorite... the pictures and visuals from simple, everyday, dramatic and high-fashion look

I am passionate and constantly searching for new knowledge when it comes to makeup and this book keeps me company. As soon as I heard that Bobbie Brown's book was out at NBS, I immediately grab my own copy.

This book was able to provide me all the things and techniques that I want to learn.

Creating the Simplest For Me is the Hardest

I was doing makeup for years now to other people. Some of them were women who simply want that stunning aura minus the heavy makeup, some were graduating students who want a look that will keep them fresh for at least 4hrs, and some just want to keep their real self, their real beauty.

Honestly, clients that go for a bolder and dramatic look for me is the easiest to do because I can pack all the colors I want and all I have to do is to remind myself when to stop.

The bare or the no makeup look is challenging. Why? Because you need to know your client personally, connect with her and define her character. If she's simple, most likely she will love that earth and neutral colors but if she's sweet and young, pastel best suits her, and so goes for the others.

Everyday is a learning process for me and I am embracing it! Every time I am with a blank face, I always get nervous. Of course I still have that CONFIDENCE, but the moment when I feel like I'm pushing myself to the cliff, I get frightened.

I know I will always be judged with my works... but for now, that doesn't give a big deal at all. I'm open to criticism, I listen to what others have to say. I'm gonna make mistakes but that won't stop me because this is what I want!

Makeup Review: Ever Bilena Famous lipstick

I haven't tried any lipstick from Ever Bilena yet. One time, when I was looking at their kiosk at SM, I saw this funky looking lipstick branded as EB Famous.

I look at their shades and found myself wanting the one in brownish red color. I find the packaging chic! The case is in hot pink with silver writing on it, very minimalist. I grabbed the one in espresso.

I was aiming to provide an image that will provide a look in its truest color and this is the best I can get.

This is a very good lipstick! It stayed on me for a descent 4hrs. I got no issues on this one. For a lipstick that cost Php160.00, this is a great steal!

My Zombies at RFR Halloween Party

Makeup Review: Ever Bilena Advance in Amazing Pink

I was looking for some bright reds I can use for my Halloween makeup. The Ever Bilena Advance in Amazing Pink really caught my attention because of some serious bright red colors I saw in their kiosk at Megamall. I was not able to try it at the store because I was in a hurry that day. Keeping my fingers crossed, I hoped I didn't waste my money on this product.

Here's its real color, there's pink, coral, red, purple and white at the middle.

I bought this for Php120.00.

This one's so SHINY in its shiniest level! A bit worried about its packaging because its too grainy that I find it too fragile that any moment, I feel like it will crack. I tried using an eyeshadow brush to apply it on my lid and some products literally fell off my face. So, instead I use my fingers and it works better, I got even application. This eyeshadow has the tendency to crumble, why... because its way too soft.

I like its pigments... Ever Bilena Advance in amazing pink gives me true pink, coral, red, purple and white colors.

It didn't look nice when I tried all the colors in my eyes. One or two shades are the descent way to apply it, even if its a party look. It stayed on my eyelids for 4hrs layered with my Urban Decay primer potion.

Makeup Review: Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation

I purchased Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation because I haven't tried any of their foundation yet. Since it my first, I still don't know what to expect but one thing for sure, I LOVE MINERAL products! This have some Chinese writing on it so I believe this is specifically made for Asians since I was not able to find it on Maybelline's official website.

Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation costs Php499.00 at Watsons, Megamall and since they're on sale at 20% off that day, I got mine for Php399.20 only, GOOD DEAL! :)

This comes in a pump-tube which I like because I find it mess-free. I believe there were four shades for this and the sales agent said that OC3 is their darkest.

It has a liquidy consistency but that's fine with me.

Its very easy to apply, one full squirt is all I need to cover my entire face. It feels very light on my skin as if I'm not wearing any foundation at all and I can easily blend it just using my fingers. It has sheer coverage that can't cover blemishes so if you have redness, zits or discoloration, I don't recommended this.

Customer Service of Beauty and Minerals

Last week, I commented on Charm Makeup brushes facebook page. I just told them my experience on their stippling brush included in the Charm Pro makeup brushes. I informed them that mine was shedding lots of hair every time I wash it. After minutes of posting it on their page, they responded and told me that what I had was a defective brush that needs immediate replacement.

Honestly, I was surprise on the gesture and the prompt action taken with regards to my complaint. That day, they gave me a message asking for my name and address and said that they'll ship the replacement that afternoon and expect the delivery the following day. Everything happened that fast! :)

So, I waited and come the following afternoon, a delivery boy knocked on my door, handing my new stippling brush.

As you can see in the below image, part of the black hair on my old stippling brush are missing already. Its because, every time I wash it, 5 to 10 strands of its hair sheds. Just so you know friends, I had my brush for over a year now. Performance-wise, I don't have any qualms with it, its just the shedding that seriously bothers me.

Right now, I'm happy for my NEW stippling brush. Also to Ms. Sophie of Beauty & Minerals, thanks so much for listening. I feel more secured in buying even the most expensive brush in your store because I know that you are serious when it comes to maintaining the credibility of your products.

Skincare Review: Human Nature Night Moisturizer

When I bought some Human Nature products to my friend, I noticed that there's a day and night moisturizers. Curious, I checked each prices then convinced myself that, it was not that expensive if I'm gonna have both. I even checked what it says about the product. "Sleep well and wake up like a queen", these are the words that excites and make me wanna try it. Who doesn't want to wake up like a queen? DUH! NO ONE! :)

The Human Nature Night Moisturizer with royal jelly and aloe vera has the same creamy consistency as the day moisturizer. After a week of putting it on before I go to sleep, facial wash first of course, I noticed immediate changes in my face. Not only its glowing when I wake up, my dark circles aren't that noticeable anymore. I believe its because of all the ingredients inside its bottle. Nothing harmful, no chemicals and no toxic substances. My face even feels that I'm giving it a royal treatment!

I LOVE IT! The packaging, the cost and the availability. I now see some Human Nature products at some racks of Rustan's, Shangrila. I'll be having a hard time departing to this product!

Makeup Tutorial: Smokey Pink Eyes

A friend asked me to do something brave for my birthday. Yah, I just celebrated my birthday yesterday! One brave look that I haven't tried before.

I'm not really a fan of pink colors because I find it to girlish... but that doesn't mean I will turn down the challenge. I studied my color wheel, checked out how some beauty gurus do it in Youtube and boom! Here's my version of a smokey pink eyes. Enjoy watching!

Skincare Review: Human Nature Day Moisturizer

Of all the moisturizers I've tried, the Human Nature Day Moisturizer with sunflower and papaya is the only to provide me that non-sticky feeling!

I must say that I highly recommend this moisturizer to my friends! Its effective, its earth-friendly, its AFFORDABLE... what more can I ask for. I'll swear to this one, promise!

I use it everyday. I even use it when I'm gonna wear makeup. This keeps my face hydrated :) By the way, I have a combination of dry and oily skin.

One time, a neighbor asked me, she said that she also wants to have a skin as glowing and clean as mine. I told her that its just easy. At first she didn't believe me because all the while she thought I was using the most expensive product on earth.

I said, of course not, I don't splurge that much on skin products (because I know they are pricey) and I'm too lazy to do those facial treatments at the mall. I told her what I'm using and immediately informed her the cost of what I honestly put on my face.

Girlfriends! You really don't need to wreck your savings account just to look fab!

I bought my Human Nature Day Moisturizer with sunflower and papaya to a friend, who happens to be a dealer. Its Php199.50 for 100ml. Not bad! :) This moisturizer has a thick cream consistency so a little amount goes a long way to my face.

Makeup Review: The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Make-up Remover

Since I put on makeup most of the time, I am now on the search for the best make up remover in stores here in Manila. Right now, I want a product that's available in most malls. One store that's known for its reputation to bring beauty products that protects our planet is The Body Shop.

I am a member of the The Body Shop's Love Your Body so I get exclusive discounts. One time I upgraded my membership, they gave me this beauty cash worth Php300.00. AWESOME right?!

Last month, I bought the 60ml bottle of The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Make-up Remover to give it a try. Overall experience was excellent! It easily removes all the waterproof mascara and liquid liner I had and this product didn't hurt my eyes. I have sensitive eyes and I easily get irritated when I put harsh products on it but this one is gentle. I even carefully use it on my waterline and lash line and it gave me no sting at all!

Its also non-greasy so when I take my makeup off, my lashes, lids and face feels fresh and clean.

How I use it? I spray some amount of the product in a cotton square and sweep it across my lids and lashes without dragging my skin. Then when all the makeup's gone, I rinse my face with clean water.

Good thing, I didn't throw the 60ml bottle for this one. This comes very handy on my makeup gigs because its small and it comes in a spray bottle.

Unlike the 250ml bottle which is big and bulky with a little hole in the cap. So, this one has to stay in my closet. :)

I bought my The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Make-up Remover at SM Supercenter, Pasig for Php550.00 but I had the beauty cash worth Php300.00 so I only pay Php250.00. Love it! I saved a lot!

Makeup Workshop at Laura Mercier

Last Friday, Oct 7, I was at Rustan's Makati to attend the Laura Mercier's Flawless Face Workshop. It was conducted by the bubbly international makeup artist, Jefferey Tasker. Kinda excited on this event because friends, he's one big makeup artist for InStyle, Vogue and Sex and the City.

There were a lot of attendees. Good thing I was able to come there earlier than the announced time so I was able to save myself a descent seat. He started the workshop by making us feel welcome. He's so funny with his silly jokes then he showed his model with a primed and moisturized face.

He said priming the face is very important to achieve a flawless look. Then, he applied foundation that matches her.

After that, he puts on Laura Mercier's secret camouflage concealer then explained why the product has two shades

... puts on some eyeshadows and presented the final look. He showed some tricks on achieving that natural blush and works effortless with his hands.

At the later part of the workshop, he introduced the latest on Laura Mercier which is the Canyon Collection, colors included were those of the earth and rusty shades.

Some products that I tried were:

the tightline cake eye liner with activator

Gourmande Body & Bath Collection, the body butters

and some of Laura Mercier's blush, lipsticks, lipglosses, liquid foundations, eye shadows, powders, mascaras and drooling on their gorgeous makeup brushes.

I was the first to ask Jefferey to have a picture taken at the photobooth and I still remembered how he responded to my request; "Sure! Gosh! I feel like a big star here!", and on my mind I was saying: "Of course you are, to us makeup junkie, indeed you are!"

I had a fun experience at the workshop though I just went there alone. Not only Mr. Tasker's so warm, he also gave us some tips and advice on how to create a flawless look using Laura Mercier's products.

Skincare Review: Human Nature Exfoliating Scrub

Why do I love thee? let me count the ways...

One, its soooo easy to use. Just a small amount, apply it on the face, rub and scrub... and viola! My face becomes radiant! Love! Love! Love!

Second, I like that I'm putting no toxins on my skin. The black rice beads and the natural fruit acids' kinda big thing to me. My! I'm at my 30's, so I need to be extra careful in choosing products if I really want that natural glow. I don't want to look older than my age. :)

Lastly, its reasonably affordable! Yes, unlike my other facial scrubs, this didn't hurt my pocket.

I don't use exfoliating scrubs everyday, its gonna damage my skin, once a week is enough for me. The first time I used this, I felt a bit weird because I find the beads a bit bigger than the usual but as I scrub it on my face, the beads gradually melts or disappear in my face. After that, I looked in the mirror and instantly noticed a brighter looking me.

For now, I'll stick with Human Nature's Exfoliating Scrub with super fruits and black rice beads and this, HAVE to stay in my bathroom until I find one better that this product.

Skincare Review: Human Nature Hydrating Face Toner

I have this big issue when it comes to choosing my toner because a lot of times, toner is the culprit every time I have a breakout. I've been using my Burt's Bees Garden Tomato toner for years but I still wanna try something new but... I'll still stick to just use products with natural ingredients. A friend introduce me to these Human Nature products and upon reading its contents, I'd convinced myself to give it a try. :)

The Human Nature Hydrating Face Toner with moringa and aloe vera works equally effective as my Burt's Bees toner minus the price tag. I must admit that I'm sold with this one. Its gentle, it doesn't smell like alcohol and it didn't give me any breakout after using it.

I use this toner twice a day, every morning and before I go to sleep to freshen up. So far, after weeks of applying it, I noticed that my face is even more brighter and my eye bags aren't noticeable than before.

Will I buy it again? YES! Not only its effective and brightens my face, its sorta affordable too! So happy with this one!

Skincare Review: Human Nature Hydrating Facial Wash

This was the free sample I got when I purchased some Human Nature products, the Hydrating Facial Wash with Moringa and Aloe Vera. I must say that this one is as effective as my usual expensive facial wash. All this time I've been searching for one product that's all natural yet inexpensive that can match my pricey one and at last, my searching is done! I'll swear to this one that not only it made my face looks clean and fresh everyday, its so affordable and proudly Philippine made, too!

I use this every time I wake up and before going to sleep. Nowadays, Manila's kinda dirty with all the pollution and dust. One way to keep my face clean is to wash it before I go out and went to bed. Just a pea-sized amount is enough to clean my face. This facial wash smells like salt to me and it doesn't bubbles but that's definitely fine with me. I'm just happy that I finally found a facial wash as gentle as this one, highly recommended! Just don't forget to shake it well first before you apply it on your skin. :)

Will I buy one again? Of course, I only have the 50ml sample. I'm planning to get the biggest bottle once I'm done with this!

I admire Nikki Gil's glamorous face. Whenever I see her on tv or in any ads, I stop, stare and closely inspects her flawless makeup. Every color in every angle complements her eyes, she's just so beautiful! Then I saw this huge billboard of her face for Boardwalk and, oh my! She looks like a goddess. Whenever I get invited to attend a night event, this look is what I usually wear because it accentuates my dark brown eyes.
